 Tails & Tales

Summer Reading Challenges for All Ages

Children & YA Challenges:

  1. At sign-up make a reading list card with a tail. (The library provides the card, chenille sticks, pom poms, and other embellishments.) On the card write your name and your personal reading goal (# of books or # of hours you want to read in July & August)
**Get a free raffle ticket after you sign up, make your reading list card w/ tail, and set your goal. **
  2. Bring in a photo, drawing, or cut out a picture of your favorite animal (with or without a tail or tale).
  3. Read as much as you can! For every 5 hours or 5 books (depending on your age) get a jewel to add to your reading list card.
  4. We will have a creature with a tail that goes around the library with some of your favorite titles. After you read a book / tale you absolutely love and want to share, write it down on a piece of paper at the circulation desk and we will add it to the tail.
  5. Attend at least one of the events at the library (including any Community Partner Programs) that are listed on the July and August event Lists.

Finish Line: After you complete the challenges, come to the library for a free book and another free raffle ticket for the gift certificate drawing at the end of August. If you have to leave town before you complete your goal, come in and get the free book and free raffle ticket.

Adult Challenges:
1. At sign up get a list of Mocktail / Cocktail websites with a book list and a free raffle ticket.
2. Share a mocktail or cocktail recipe with us via email, in person, or mail. (A picture is not required, but fun if you can add one!)
3. Set your reading goal. (This is private.)
4. Attend one of the many programs (including any community Partner Programs) we advertise with our July or August event lists.
5. After completing the above challenges, come to the library for another free raffle ticket and a free book.
