Banned Books
September 18th to 24th is Banned Books Week! Every year there are hundreds of complaints filed in an attempt to ban certain books from schools and public libraries. The following are some of the books that have been banned over the years and why. This list is by no means complete, and is not an attempt to show all banned books and reasons for banning. There are a lot of resources on the ALA (American Library Association) website, as well as the Top Ten Banned Books going back almost two decades. The ALA, as well as the Office for Intellectual Freedom, celebrate banned book week every year in September in order to bring awareness to attempts at censorship.
