Library Assistant (Part-time)
(Open until filled- Starting date is June 2, 2021)

We are looking for a flexible, hardworking, thoughtful, good natured individual to assist with library circulation, reference, and library programs & events. Some evenings and Saturday work hours will be required. Must be able to work well with all types of people and have excellent communication skills. This position reports to the Library Director and includes possible future advancement. The position will be 10-24 hours per week depending on the time of year and library needs. 

Duties to start include:
-Shelving returned items, shelf shifting as needed, cleaning books, and shelves
-Book repair and disc cleaning
-Assist at circulation desk, with Library World software to start and eventually transitioning to Sierra software (Autumn 2020)
-Maintain patron confidentiality (as detailed by the American Library Association)
-Willingness to learn new technology
-New item cataloging
-New item processing
-Some cleaning duties (vacuuming and cleaning shelves in the process of shelf reading)

Desired skills:
-Experience with Library World, Sierra or other library based circulation and cataloging software
-Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google products
-Understanding of electronic resources available on the library website (Mango, Overdrive eBook/ Audiobook usage, Freegal, and Maine State Library databases)
-Ability to navigate and post on Social Media platforms. (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and any others)
-Willingness and desire to learn new skills 

 $15 – $17 / hour to start based on experience.
