Following a comprehensive feasibility study in the fall of 2022, the Library Board unanimously voted to proceed with a multi-year capital campaign focused on critical building improvements and growing our endowment fund. Planned upgrades will protect and expand our collection, allow us to serve our patrons better, and support our hard-working staff.

We are exploring the option of featuring a small, curated selection of the historical WoodenBoat collection within the library.

We’ve engaged Elliott Architects, the firm that designed our award-winning renovation in 2000, to develop concepts for upgrades and expansion.

Starting this spring, we will address a couple of urgent items: the current parking arrangement that Maine DOT has deemed unsafe and air quality issues in the library that put our collections at risk. These projects will be funded by foundation grants.

With widespread and enthusiastic support, we are excited to proceed toward an improved library and endowment that will benefit our patrons and neighbors.

If you have questions or wish to get involved as a campaign volunteer, please email Ann at director@friendml.org or call the library during business hours at 207-359-2276.
