Katama Murray of Teach Peace Prints

During the month of November, the library will be showcasing the work of local artist, Katama Murray, the owner of Teach Peace Prints. Read a part of her artist bio below:

Throughout all seasons of the year, she creates cyanotype prints which honor and capture the local flora. Using this photographic print process, each print on watercolor paper or fabric is created using the power of natural sunlight, alchemy, patience, and admiration for each plant. Common grass species which grow in this region are often overlooked during peak seasons amongst bright, blooming flowers. However, these grasses often yield the most interesting textures and forms, and invites one to further appreciate the diversity of surrounding species, amongst other local plants, which possess fascinating structure and detail upon closer inspection. Each print captures a moment in time, as well as a memory of a place, time, and collection of objects that cast their shadows for others to enjoy through a different lens of observation.

Katama’s work will be on display until the end of the month, and we hope you stop by and and see her incredible art!
