May 3rd at 2PM

Join us to celebrate the end of National Poetry Month by creating some blackout poetry at the library. This innovative way of creating poetry was popularized by Austin Kleon, who was fighting writer’s block and decided to find something new within the old words of others.

In order to create blackout poetry, there are a couple of key things you’ll need:

  • A book, magazine, or article that can be written on
  • A series of pens or pieces of paper for blocking out certain words on the page
  • Any other decorations you want to add to your poem.

Below are examples of different blackout poetry sourced from edutechspot.com. We hope to see you on May 3rd at 2PM to create something new!
