Collecting Tote Bags
During the month of April, the library will be collecting bags with handles for reuse by patrons. These can be sturdy plastic, lightly used paper, and canvas. Bags can be dropped at the front desk or in the library return box. We are hoping that this summer, patrons who need a little help carrying their books, who check out a whole stack, or anyone else will be able to take a bag when they choose.
FAQ:
How long will you be collecting bags?
From now on we will always accept lightly used bags. We are doing a couple of weeks of collecting ahead of launching to make sure that we have enough to start giving them out.
What constitutes lightly used?
For canvas bags and standard reusable shopping bags, they should not have any stains, and handles should still be sewn in place. For paper bags, they should not have rips or tears in them. Any bags that are dropped in the return bin outside of library hours will not be returned if deemed too old or used.
Is there any criteria for taking a bag home?
We ask that you take out at least one book, but other than that, no.
